Harlequins Junior Festival 2019
2019 NZ Junior Festival – Harlequins Zone is one of four festivals aimed at junior swimmers (12 years and under) held by Swimming New Zealand. The festivals are held concurrently around the country in each of the four zones, Harlequins (Auckland), Aqua Knights (Rotorua), All Stars (Wellington), and Makos (Dunedin). The Harlequins Zone includes all clubs from Northland, Auckland, and Counties Manukau regions.
This year eleven swimmers represented the BOISC at the Harlequins Festival in different age groups: Ciara Andrews, Lukas Bayer, Layla Bell, Sascha Bell, Dayna Hawke, Amelia Horsfield, Oliver Horsfield, Ariella Ripohau, Florence Venner, Seth Venner and Isabelle Welling.
All of these swimmers performed exceptionally well throughout the three-day Festival and they ALL achieved massive PBs in almost all of their events. Many improving their overall ranking across the region.
Two swimmers achieved Top Ten results for the Harlequin Zone in their age group: Florence Venner, 12 Year-Old-Girls 100m Butterfly - 10th and 50m Butterfly - 8th, Ariella Ripohau, 12 Year-Old-Girls 200m Backstroke - 10th, 100m Backstroke - 8th, 50m Backstroke - 8th, 50m Freestyle - 6th and 100m Freestyle - 5th.
